An Intensive Research Training Program
Under the direction of Professor Lijuan (Dawn) Cheng, the Global Research Experience in Advanced Technologies (GREAT) Program, in collaboration with the UC Davis College of Engineering, is available to undergraduate students in a variety of science and technology disciplines from participating partner institutions around the world. In this highly selective program, students are nominated by their home university and approved by the program’s faculty director. Selected applicants are matched with a UC Davis faculty mentor based upon the student’s research interests and qualifications, and faculty availability.
Throughout July and August, program participants will:
- Gain research experience in state-of-the-art laboratories under mentorship of leading UC Davis faculty members
- Receive official UC Davis academic credits through a course led by College of Engineering faculty
- Develop a competitive edge in applying for Master’s and Ph.D. programs at UC Davis
- Participate in a capstone UC Davis Interdisciplinary Research Symposium with scholars and students engaged in multidisciplinary research collaborations
- Enjoy a cultural and recreational field trip to a scenic destination in Northern California
